How do I scare a shark?

The risk of getting attacked are very low, as stated on the Shark Facts Stats Page. But in the event that you do find yourself in this extreme situation, you will need to defend yourself. According to Andy Dehart, Discovery Channel's Shark Adviser, to scare a shark, you may want to do the following:

1. If the shark is coming at you head on, whack them old style. Punch them on top of their nose. Be careful of that narrow nose where a jaw full of teeth is waiting and your hand might might accidentally come in contact with those sharp teeth.

2. If they are coming along beside you, jab them along their gills. Their gills are extremely sensitive and you will have a great chance to ward off the attack.

Be mindful that you need not be aggressive at once when you see a shark. They are quite curious animals. Most of the time, they just wanna see what you are and then be on their merry way.
