List of Sharks in Danger of Extinction

According to SharkSavers.Org there is plenty of data indicating the decline of the sharks and also a lack of data in critical areas as well. There are a lot of data collection and analysis is needed to be done in order to draw accurate conclusions regarding the status of the shark species.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) is an organization that conducts these assessments that are at risk of extinction. In 2008 they have posted the Red List, 50 shark species listed as being at high risk of extinction with categories of either Critically Endangered, Endangered, or Vulnerable while another 63 shark species are approaching threatened status (either Conservation Dependent or Near Threatened).

The list posted here is by far the most accurate according to data gathered, but it does not mean that all other species are out of the woods just yet. There is just not enough data in many of these cases to make a proper determination.
